CONTENTS OF THE BIBLE K-12, GRADES 1-4 (PARTIAL)

THE FOLLOWING PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW OF THE CONTENTS IN THE VIDEOS FOR "THE BIBLE K-12" SO FAR.

Kindergarten Bible begins with an overview of the two large sections of the Bible, the Old and New Testaments (Part A).  Part B describes the organization of the two Testaments into books, chapters, and verses.

First Grade Bible, Part A, provides an overview of the book of Genesis.  It focuses on the story of Abraham and his family, including Jacob and his 12 sons.  It ends with the family's settling in Egypt.
First Grade Bible, Part B, is the story of Moses' life, including his leading the people out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and on to Mount Sinai.

Second Grade Bible has many parts, which cover the history of Israel from Joshua through King David.
Second Grade Bible, Part A, tells the story of the invasion of Canaan, which was led by Joshua, and also provides and overview of the time of the Judges.
Second Grade Bible, Part B, is a brief review of the evolution of Israel from the time of the Patriarchs to its development, after the Exodus, from a "People" to a Nation.
Second Grade Bible, Part C, describes, briefly, the leadership of Samuel and the first king, Saul.
Second Grade Bible, Parts D through I, focuses on David.
Part D is an introduction to David.
    Part E describes his Anointing.
Part F tells of the period when David was an officer in Saul's army and was close to Saul's family.
Part G includes the death of Saul and the rise of David as a powerful king.
Part H includes the famous story of David and Bathsheba and the beginning of the problems that came out of that incident.
Part I describes the war between David and his son Absalom.

Third Grade Bible, Part A, presents a time line of the history of the nation.

Third Grade Bible, Part B, shows a model of the Temple that was constructed during Solomon's reign.

Third Grade Bible, Part C, describes Solomon's reign.

Third Grade Bible, Part D, describes the end of the Northern Kingdom (Israel) and some of the events in the Southern Kingdom (Judah), including the story of the wicked Queen Athalia.

Third Grade Bible, Part E, provides an overview of the historical background of the kingdoms. It is entitled, "Life Among the Empires."

Fourth Grade Bible, Part A, changes the format of presentation.  Rather than focusing on stories from the history of Israel, the video presents various ideas and concepts found in the Old Testament.  The first two topics are in fourth Grade Bible, Part A.  The first topic is "Creation," and the second is "God Speaks."

Fourth Grade Bible, Part B, discusses "Conscience."

BIBLE REFERENCES FOR GRADE 4 C: CONSCIENCE

I have been providing Bible references to go with the Youtube videos that I call "The Bible K-12."  At this point I am in the 4th Grade.  The following are references for Lesson 4C

The Lord's message to Cain:  Genesis 4:6

The evil in Noah's day:  Genesis 6:5

Abraham* lies to Pharaoh:  Genesis 12:10

Abraham* debates with the Lord about Sodom (on behalf of his nephew Lot):  Genesis 18:16-33

Joseph resists the advances of Potiphar's wife (Potiphar was his owner/master):  Genesis 39:11-18

David and Bathsheba:  II Samuel 11

*Abraham's original name was Abram.  The Lord changed it, and that is noted in Genesis 17:5.  So references before chapter 17 should be "Abram" and not Abraham.

THE BIBLE K-12 BIBLE REFERENCES, THIRD GRADE BIBLE

I upload videos to a channel, "THE BIBLE K-12."  It is "For adults who don't have a clue what the Bible is all about."  In previous posts on lastdaysworkshop.com, I have posted Bible references related to these videos.  This post provides additional references.  Hopefully some will pursue these and deepen their understanding of the Bible.

THIRD GRADE BIBLE PART 3A AND 3E

I am not posting Bible references for these two videos.  Many study Bibles include introduction to books as well as footnotes to specific passages.  They also often have maps.  All of these will be good sources to help those who want to pursue timelines and background concerning Middle East history, especially regarding empires.  The entire books of Daniel and Esther (supplemented by study notes) will be helpful.

THIRD GRADE BIBLE PART 3B

All of the following relate to the building of the Temple:

I Kings 6:1-38

I Chronicles 22:1-19

II Chronicles chapters 2-5

THIRD GRADE BIBLE PART 3C

I Kings 1:11-31

3:1-14 (notice the beginning of mixture of obedience and disobedience)

11:1-8 (Solomon"s wives)

12:1-15 (Rehoboam, Solomon's son, makes a bad move)

12:16-20 (the dividing of the nation)

12:25-33 (Jereboam introduces pagan worhip in the north)

THIRD GRADE BIBLE PART 3D

(You might scan through some of the chapters of I Kings to get an idea of the kings who reigned in the two countries--Judah in the south and Israel in the north.  The following references are only to those leaders whom I discussed.)

I Kings 16:29-33 (Ahab and Jezebel are introduced.  Ahab's story continues to the end of I Kings and Jezebel's story continues into II Kings.)

II Kings 14:23-29 (Although Jeroboam II was one of the most successful and powerful of the northern kings, he does not get much space.  Note verse 14:25:  the wording of the place-names may vary depending on the translation you use.  This verse describes a large strip of land from about 50 miles north of Damascus and arching south to the Dead Sea.  Try to find maps to help your orientation.)

II Kings 15:30 (Hoshea kills King Pekah and takes the throne.  He is not the first to become king in Israel by assassination, but he is the last.)

II Kings 17:1-6  (Hoshea is the last king of the northern kingdom of Israel.  The captives were taken north and east of the homeland.  Because they were from the ten tribes that comprised Israel, the expression "ten lost tribes" of Israel.  Probably many were not exiled, but this strategy had a debilitating effect on those left behind.)

II Kings 17:7-14  (This is a summary statement that explains why the Lord allowed the collapse of Israel, the northern kingdom.)

BIBLE REFERENCES FOR "THE BIBLE K-12" ON YOUTUBE, First Grade

FIRST GRADE BIBLE BIBLE REFERENCES

I have a series of YouTube videos that I call "The Bible K-12."  It is "for adults who don't have a clue what the Bible is all about."  Recently, I promised that I would publish Bible references for people to read as they follow the video series.  These references are not necessarily exhaustive lists of Scriptures that illustrate or give the background for my talks.  They will help, I hope, viewers to begin to become acquainted with the Scripture and perhaps motivate them to explore more about the Bible.  This is a bigger task than I realized, and it is going to take a while to catch up to the videos.  I hope that viewers will be patient.  So this first list is just for First Grade Bible.

PART A

All of the following are from Genesis:

10:32  The "sons (descendants) of Noah"

        11:27-32 Terah leaves Ur

12:1-3  The call of Abram (Abraham)

        21:1-7  Isaac born

        25:19-26  Jacob and Esau

        29:1-30:22  Jacob's children (partial list)

        46:1-7, 47:1-6  Jacob's family goes to Egypt

PART B:

    The following are from Exodus:

        1:1-14  Slavery in Egypt

        2:1-10  Moses' early life

        3:1-22  Burning-bush call

        14:1-31  Crossing the Red Sea

        19:1-6  Mount Sinai

        20:1-21  Ten Commandments

        26:1-37  The Tabernacle

End of Moses' life at Mount Pisgah (overlooking the Promised Land) (Abarim seems to be the mountain range and Pisgah was part of Abarim.  Nebo was the highest part of Pisgah.  This is the best explanation I could find.)

        Deuteronomy 3:23-28

        Deuteronomy 34:1-12

        Numbers 27:12-23
